Steriwatch is an early warning for sterile processing teams at hospitals and surgical centres in Ontario, Canada.
The problem
In Ontario, when steam, water, or equipment in sterile processing drifts out of range, the first sign is often stained or spotted instruments. By then, surgeries are being cancelled. Steriwatch is meant to warn earlier.
Ontario and Yukon hospitals have lost hundreds of procedures this way in recent years.
